Das „SEEN–Around the World-Symposium“ feiert mit einem 3-tägigen Event das typografische Werk von Frauen* sowie non-binären Personen und reist einmal rund um den Globus. Live-Vorträge, Panel Discussions sowie aufgezeichnete Interviews mit 30 internationalen Typografinnen und Type-Designerinnen zu gesellschaftlichen Fragen versprechen einen tiefen Einblick in ihre gestalterische Praxis und die Zukunft des Designs.
Das „SEEN–Around the World-Symposium“ findet hybrid statt. Die Konferenzsprache ist Englisch. Die kostenlosen Tickets sind hier (unseen-women.design/symposium) buchbar.
Das Forschungsprojekt UN/SEEN beteiligt sich an den breiten Diskussionen über Geschlecht, Diskriminierung und Intersektionalität, indem es bislang unbekanntes Material recherchiert und historische wie aktuelle Designerinnen sichtbar macht. Damit stellt UN/SEEN traditionelle Erzählungen infrage, hebt die Bedeutung der Vor-Bauhaus-Ära hervor und schreibt so Designgeschichte neu.

Parallel zum Symposium wird im Erdgeschoss die Ausstellung Flags with a Message eröffnet.

The ‘SEEN-Around the World-Symposium’ celebrates the typographic work of women* and non-binary people as part of a three-day event that will travel once around the globe. Live Lectures, panel discussions and previously recorded interviews with 30 international typographers and type designers exploring societal questions are sure to provide a deep insight into their respective creative practices as well as the future of design.
The ‘SEEN-Around the World-Symposium’ will take place in a hybrid format. The conference language will be English. Free tickets, can be booked here (unseen-women.design/symposium)
The UN/SEEN research project is furthering the comprehensive discourse surrounding gender, discrimination, and intersectionality by studying previously unknown material and making both female designers of the past and present visible. In doing so, UN/SEEN is calling traditional narratives into question/challenging, emphasising the significance of the pre-Bauhaus era and thus reshaping design histories.

The Flags with a Message exhibition will open on the ground floor at the same time as the symposium.
