We live democracy at Mainz University of Applied Sciences. Upholding mutual respect in our interactions with one another, defending democracy, and protecting academic and scientific freedom are of the utmost importance to us, even more so in an era when these values can no longer be taken for granted in our country. At Mainz University of Applied Sciences, we stand united in defense of the fundamental rights guaranteed by the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Germany and liberal democratic principles.
Mainz University of Applied Sciences is participating with numerous academic institutions nationwide in the world of academia and science’s joint campaign #Zusammenland – Hält die Wahrheit aus! (Togetherland – Endures the truth!), is launched by the publishing houses and media companies Die ZEIT, Süddeutsche Zeitung, Handelsblatt, WirtschaftsWoche, Tagesspiegel, and Ströer. With this campaign, everyone involved is taking a stand against fake news with this initiative and are committed to diversity, democracy and academic freedom.
The campaign will launch on February 20, 2025, in the "WISSEN" section of the German weekly newspaper DIE ZEIT, featuring its campaign motif. The motif will display the logo of Mainz University of Applied Sciences. The university will also promote the initiative on its central Instagram channel.
