From school to the campus

Ninth graders from Mainz-Oberstadt Gymnasium explore the university

On January 21, 2025, the students of Class 9d at Mainz-Oberstadt Gymnasium experienced an exciting day on campus as part of their business classes. The focus was on the subjects of pricing and influencing by marketing, which were taught not only theoretically but also hands-on.

PhD students Jonas Fränzl and Andreas Wunder introduced the teenagers to pricing from a business perspective. In small groups, the students took on the role of the founders of a start-up. They independently calculated costs and performed market and competition analyses, giving them practical insights into the world of business.

Prof. Dr. Claudia Hensel then took the class on a journey through the world of marketing, vividly demonstrating how advertising influences our consumption behavior. Particularly impressive: a blind tasting of gummy bears, which made it clear how much external factors influence our decisions.

The class also used the opportunity to get to know the campus and the wide range of degree programs offered by the School of Business.
