Management students develop solutions for Lufthansa Aviation Training GmbH

As part of the Controlling & Consulting option offered by Prof. Dr. Britta Rathje and Prof. Dr. Sven Fischbach, management students had the practical opportunity to develop problem-solving concepts for Lufthansa Aviation Training GmbH (LAT). LAT offers training and continuing education, particularly in the areas of pilot training, safety training, and service training, and its services are used by Lufthansa and other well-known airlines. Innovative training methods and efficiency and cost optimization are important competitive factors that the students focused on.

The kick-off event took place in October 2023 to give the student management consultants an accurate impression of the products and services. In total, the management students worked on and successfully completed five different projects. One of these was to increase the efficiency of training for flight attendants. The students developed a proposal involving the use of avatars and the offering of digital seminars. The collaboration was successfully completed in January 2024.

“The collaboration between Mainz University of Applied Sciences and Lufthansa Aviation Training GmbH is a valuable example of the successful combination of academic education and practical experience,” emphasized the project supervisors at LAT. Thanks to this close collaboration, the master’s degree students had the opportunity to apply their theoretical knowledge to actual projects and acquire valuable practical experience. At the same time, LAT benefited from the students’ fresh ideas and innovative solutions.
