With BEST OF DESIGN, the School of Design presented a snapshot of the latest outcomes of design teaching at Mainz University of Applied Sciences at the Kunstverein Ingelheim from June 24 - July 16, 2023.
The exhibition was a reflection of the huge potential of the student work that is created every semester in the three subject areas of interior architecture, communication design, and media design.
For BEST OF DESIGN, interdisciplinary teams of interior architecture and communication design students developed a media- and site-specific exhibition concept for the works that had been judged in advance by the professors of the disciplines.
The students developed and executed a sustainable and regenerative exhibition architecture. Almost all of the materials used for the exhibition architecture, such as expander ropes left over from a previous project or donated bicycle transport boxes, were either stored again after the exhibition was dismantled or at least returned to the material cycle.
The students also developed the entire visual identity and exhibition communication with posters, flyers, a labeling system, social media, and digital documentation. All conceptual, architectural, and graphic components of the project were systematically related to one another in terms of content and design.
The very well-attended exhibition opening on June 23, 2023 turned into a cheerful summer party with plenty of design, art, creation, and good conversation over chilled beverages.
