On September 12, 2023, a welcome event for all new staff at Mainz University of Applied Sciences took place for the second time in the auditorium on campus. The President, Prof. Dr. Susanne Weissman, warmly welcomed all those present and emphasized the importance of informal exchange and in-person encounters that go beyond academic matters. The deans and vice deans of the three schools then informed the attendees about their main areas of focus and the interdisciplinary exchange that is to be further strengthened with the new building. The first part of the event was rounded off with an overview of the offices and committees, during which the opportunities for employees to get involved and help shape the university’s decision-making processes were also highlighted.
The World Café subsequently enabled participants to talk to representatives from various areas and find out more about the units. The opportunity to get to know each other and chat informally continued during the coffee break.
Finally, the new employees were able to learn about their new workplace in a slightly different way with a university quiz. Did you know, for example, that there is a disco ball in a meeting room in Wallstrasse? What painting hangs in the President's office? Or that you are accompanied by dogs in the stairwell in Holzstraße?
The event was organized by Jennifer Werthmann, Personnel Development Specialist. Julia Schneider, Business Cooperation Adviser at Mainz University of Applied Sciences, moderated the event.
