Prof. Dr. Kira Weyer teaches business administration with a focus on strategy and sustainability

Mainz University of Applied Sciences welcomes Prof. Dr. Kira Weyer as a new Professor of Business Administration in the School of Business. With her focus on strategy and sustainability, she will both enrich and shape teaching and research at the university in the future. It is particularly pleasing that Prof. Dr. Weyer is returning to her former place of activity – she once studied here herself, laying the foundations for her impressive career.

Prof. Dr. Weyer studied International Business at Mainz University of Applied Sciences and at partner universities in Paris (ESCE) and Buenos Aires (UCES). She completed her studies with a German-French double degree and a master’s degree. She subsequently continued her academic career on an international level by completing her doctorate at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) with a research stay in Chile. Her dissertation was dedicated to the public acceptance of renewable energies in an international comparison – a topic that has had a lasting impact on her academic work and professional career.

In addition to her academic career, Prof. Dr. Weyer also possesses extensive practical experience from the worlds of industry and research. As Sustainability Manager at MVV Energie AG, she worked on strategic projects on topics such as the Supply Chain Sustainability Act, the EU Taxonomy, and CO₂ reduction technologies. She was also Managing Director of the Franco-German Institute for Environmental Research (DFIU) at KIT, where she acquired and headed international research projects on energy and sustainability issues and established research collaborations. Other professional positions include positions at BASF in the areas of sustainability and investor relations.
