The LEHRimpuls event was held for the third time at Mainz University of Applied Sciences on December 5, 2024. The Competence Center for Innovation in Studies and Teaching invited all interested individuals to come to the LUX Pavilion and gain insights into innovative and forward-looking teaching projects from all three schools, to be inspired by new ideas for their own teaching and to network with colleagues.
LEHRimpuls started with two workshops on the topics “ChatGPT, write me a book” with Vivien Bender from Springer Nature and “Learning to improvise” with Claudia Behlendorf from the Mainz improv school Die Affirmative.
After an inspiring welcome address by University President Prof. Dr. Susanne Weissman, Dr. Yasmin Djabarian from the University Dogitalization Forum (Hochschulforum Digitalisierung) gave a keynote speech that looked at the sustainable design of universities and presented a selection of international use cases.
Later in the evening, lecturers who were awarded prizes last year as part of the Innovative Teaching funding program presented their project results in short spotlight interviews. The three panel discussions presented a wide range of teaching formats at Mainz University of Applied Sciences on the topics of “Tool-supported teaching,” “Sustainability and modern technologies,” and “Interdisciplinarity and non-university collaboration.” The project insights were rounded off by a poster exhibit on the projects.
Between the interviews, attendees had the opportunity to find out more about current technologies at hands-on stations during the interactive break or get inspired by exchanging ideas with others.
Finally, Vice President, Studies & Teaching, Prof. Kerstin Molter, and Prof. Claudia Nass Bauer presented awards to the winners of the current round of funding for the Innovative Teaching program.
