On December 6, 2024, Florian Koch’s defense of his dissertation “Navigating Paradoxes and Multiple Institutional Logics in Creative Startups” took place at TU Darmstadt. By defending his doctoral thesis before a panel, he successfully completed his cooperative doctorate, which he began on July 1, 2020 as a research assistant at the iuh – Institute for Entrepreneurial Action at Mainz University of Applied Sciences.
The examination committee was chaired by Prof. Dr. Dirk Schiereck (TU Darmstadt). The reviewers were Prof. Dr. Alexander Kock (TU Darmstadt) and Prof. Dr. Elmar D. Konrad (Mainz University of Applied Sciences), as well as Prof. Dr. Caroline Bock (TU Darmstadt) as an assessor. With their chairs and institutes, they all impressively represented the research areas covered by Florian Koch’s dissertation, namely innovation, entrepreneurship, and start-ups in the cultural and creative industries.
The dissertation of Florian Koch’s cumulative doctorate, which is also excellent in terms of methodology, now brings together all studies in a theoretically sound and coherent manner. Thus, in addition to its relevant subject matter, the paper also makes a significant contribution to research and a relevant transfer contribution to the practice through its exemplary theoretical development, its innovative methodological implementation, and its novel findings.
Florian Koch’s research achievement was therefore rightly and more than deservedly recognized with the top grade SUMMA CUM LAUDE. Congratulations, Florian!
