The joint project KITeGG - KI greifbar machen und begreifen: Technologie und Gesellschaft verbinden durch Gestaltung (Making AI tangible and understandable: Connecting technology and society through design) under the project management of Professor Florian Jenett in collaboration with Offenbach University of Art and Design, the University of Design Schwäbisch Gmünd, Cologne University of Applied Sciences, and Trier University of Applied Sciences has been recommended for funding by the expert commission of the funding initiative Künstliche Intelligenz in der Hochschulbildung (Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education). The project's funding amounts to around €5 million, of which €1.5 million is allocated to Mainz University of Applied Sciences. The aim of the project is to establish a strong network of design departments and universities in order to sustainably embed the teaching of AI topics and methods across the entire field of design. The joint project aims to integrate the teaching of AI methods in the education and training of designers in such a way that they are able to implement these methods as material and tools for design in a reflected manner.
With the funding initiative Künstliche Intelligenz in der Hochschulbildung, federal and state governments are striving to effectively develop the key technology of artificial intelligence (AI) across the entire university system. 40 individual projects by universities of applied sciences and 14 collaborative projects involving several universities of applied sciences will be funded under this federal and state funding initiative for a period of up to four years.
