Mainz University of Applied Sciences will receive 550,000 Euro for its international partner university network. The funding is part of the DAAD program HAW.International, which is particularly geared towards the internationalization of universities of applied sciences and will begin in January 2025.
During the period from 2025 to 2027, Mainz University of Applied Sciences will deepen its cooperation with five chosen non-European partner universities and establish a collaboration network with them that is geared towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
The establishment of the “GOAL – Global Outreach through Action and Leadership” network is designed to promote specific measures that contribute to selected sustainability goals, in particular student projects, virtual student collaboration, and teacher exchanges. At the same time, Mainz University of Applied Sciences and its network partners want to eliminate structural and administrative hurdles during the funding period and create the basis for a long-lasting, sustainable network that addresses global challenges.
The following partner universities are included:
- Christ University in India
- Coastal Carolina University in the USA
- Shih Chien University in Taiwan
- St. Joseph University in Maca
- Universidad del Desarrollo in Chile
Mainz University of Applied Sciences works closely with all partner universities and the partners generally collaborate with at least two of the university’s three schools of Design, Engineering and Business.
“The DAAD funding represents a significant milestone for Mainz University of Applied Sciences’ international partnership network,” says Prof. Dr. Susanne Weissman, President of Mainz University of Applied Sciences.
"This financial support will not only promote academic collaboration and student and lecturer exchanges, it will also help to strengthen intercultural understanding. In addition, this funding makes an important contribution to the internationalization of the university and its degree programs, thereby supporting our internationalization strategy."
“I am looking forward to supporting the GOAL project and playing my part in ensuring that we make increasingly strategic use of our global network to make valuable contributions both locally and internationally,” says Gabriel Belinga Belinga, Head of the International Office at Mainz University of Applied Sciences.
