Susanne Weissman on the Board of the University Alliance for SMEs

The president of Mainz University of Applied Sciences, Professor Dr. Susanne Weissman, has been elected as the third member of the Board of the Higher Education Alliance for SMEs (website only available in German) (HAfM).

Since July 2020, Mainz University of Applied Sciences has been a member of this nationwide alliance of application-oriented universities that have long-standing, established research collaborations with regional companies. The University Alliance for SMEs views itself as a network between business and science and represents the interests of application-oriented universities in their function as partners of SMEs with regard to politics and society. "I will be contributing topics such as digitalization and the strengthening of regional and national networks to the alliance in particular," says Prof. Dr. Susanne Weissman. "The aim of the application-oriented universities associated with the alliance is to be bridge builders between science and the economic, social, cultural and political developments surrounding it."

In the election, incumbent board chairman Prof. Dr.-Ing. Peter Ritzenhoff (University of Applied Sciences Bremerhaven) and Dr. Muriel Helbig (Technical University of Applied Sciences Lübeck) were confirmed as board members for the next two years. Prof. Dr. Susanne Weissman succeeds Prof. Dr. Winfried Lieber (Offenburg University of Applied Sciences), who did not seek re-election due to his upcoming end of term as Rector.
