More than 80 international students came to Mainz in mid-September 2023 from a wide range of countries, including France, Korea, Australia, Italy, Mexico, Poland, the US, Slovakia, Portugal, Spain, Brazil, and Chile. They will study at Mainz University of Applied Sciences for at least one semester, gaining a lot of experience and obtaining new knowledge. The students from the various schools and degree programs were welcomed to the campus and the Holzstraße site with a welcoming address and a short presentation. Afterwards, they were introduced to Mainz University of Applied Sciences and had the opportunity to make their first connections with one another.
As part of an orientation week held in late September, the International Office organized various activities together with the schools of the university to enable the international students to get to know their home for studying abroad better and to network with each other in the process. During a guided city tour, they visited the most important and most beautiful parts of Mainz and were able to get an overview of downtown Mainz at the same time. They also took a stadium tour of the MEWA Arena and learned that Mainz is home to the soccer club 1. FSV Mainz 05, which plays in the highest German league, the Bundesliga. The international students embraced these offers with great interest and enthusiasm. The orientation week ended with an evening together including food, drink, and music on campus.
The International Office and Mainz University of Applied Sciences wish the students great success and lots of fun in their studies and a pleasant and enjoyable stay in Mainz.
