From September 23-27, 2024, the Teaching Competence Center hosted the first Future Skills Week at Mainz University of Applied Sciences. The 400+ registrations demonstrated the significant interest in the new format for developing key interdisciplinary skills.
During the Future Skills Week, students had the opportunity to attend 16 interactive workshops on the key skills of the future, the Future Skills. From AI competence and data literacy to creativity and communication – the workshops prepared students specifically for the demands of the modern job market.
The Future Skills are based on a framework developed jointly by the Stifterverband and McKinsey & Company. This set of 21 skills reflects cross-industry abilities, skills, and characteristics that will become increasingly important for the job market and participation in society over the next five years. You can find more information about the framework here.
One particular incentive for participants was the Future Skills Basics certificate, which they were able to earn by completing at least three workshops.
