The Competence Center for Innovation in Studies and Teaching, a project supported by the Foundation for Innovation in Higher Education (Stiftung Innovation in der Hochschullehre) as part of its funding line Strengthening university teaching through digitalization, will receive further funding until the end of 2025 after its regular term, which ends in July 2024. As part of a competitive application for a project extension, the Competence Center succeeded in acquiring funding of 463,497 Euro.
As a central hub, the Competence Center will continue to support teachers and students at Mainz University of Applied Sciences in their efforts to develop contemporary digital university teaching and will remain a permanent service center for the university after the project has ended.
During the previous funding period, the former Media & Teaching team, the Learning Lab, the Curriculum Workshop and two research projects on innovative technologies were merged to form a single competence center. Not only has this led to the redesign and expansion of services, it has also helped ensure that both teaching staff and students now have a qualified point of contact for all questions relating to the design of teaching and learning processes in the service infrastructure of Mainz University of Applied Sciences. Furthermore, new support services for the modernization and revision of curricula have been created and numerous new support services have been developed within the Innovative Technologies area of activity, such as the recent Prompting Workshop for AI-based tools.
