Getting to know each other - thinking ahead was the motto of the Research Data Management event, which was held at Mainz University of Applied Sciences on March 7 and 8, 2024. Representatives from initiatives, projects, universities, authorities, and companies from across Rhineland-Palatinate came together on campus to get to know one another and develop a common vision for the future of research data management (RDM) in the state.
The opening remarks by State Secretary Dr. Denis Alt, University President Prof. Dr. Susanne Weissman and Dr. Raphael Ritz from the Research Data Alliance Germany were followed by a lightning round. Initiatives, projects, authorities, and companies introduced themselves and voiced their challenges and concerns. This was followed by discussions at tables with various themes to identify problems and needs, define goals, and seek solutions. The second day was also characterized by intensive discussions in theme groups, during which fields of action were developed. The results will now be analyzed and published in a position paper. The RDM event was sponsored by the Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry of Science and Health. The program developed in the unconference and additional information can be found on the event homepage (in German).
