It is the most important event of the real estate industry in Europe and a delegation of the Department of Construction of Mainz University of Applied Sciences was there: From October 4 to 6, Expo Real, the largest European trade show for real estate and investment, took place in Munich.
Expo Real was forced to take a break for two years as a result of the pandemic. This year the real estate trade show relaunched – and representatives of the construction degree programs of Mainz University of Applied Sciences were present on site as active participants. As a partner of the Gesellschaft für immobilienwirtschaftliche Forschung e.V. (Society for Real Estate Research), Mainz University of Applied Sciences was able to secure one of the few university booths at Expo Real and present its degree programs in civil engineering, construction and property management, technical property management and industrial engineering.

With the theme of “building networks”, Professor Dr. Axel Freiboth, Professor Dr. Andreas Link, Professor Dr. Stephan Ruhl, Frank Reis, and Nicolas Hecker not only promoted the professional and instructional strengths of the university’s engineering degree programs, but also took advantage of the opportunity to deepen existing contacts with industry partners in business, research, and teaching, and establish new ones.
The Expo Real trade show offers economic regions, associations, real estate brokerage firms, investors, project developers, architects, and educational institutions the opportunity to network and showcase themselves. Nearly 40,000 trade show visitors and more than 1,800 exhibitors from 33 countries participated in this year’s Expo Real. Featured was a broad spectrum “ranging from ideas and conception to investment and financing, realization and marketing, to operation and utilization.” Right in the thick of it all was the booth of the engineering degree programs offered by Mainz University of Applied Sciences.
For the Department of Construction, exhibiting at Expo Real 2022 was a great success. Next year’s participation is already being planned, so that we will continue to have our finger on the pulse of the industry in the future, continuously raise the profile of the Department of Construction and stand out in the Germany-wide competition for students.
