European elections and employment law: What do they have to do with one another? The Master’s students of the Employment Law and Human Resources Management degree program at the School of Business at Mainz University of Applied Sciences had the opportunity to find out on Monday, June 3, 2024, at the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg. There, they discussed the case law of the Court of Justice with the President of the Chamber, Judge François Biltgen, and subsequently attended proceedings in the Hungarian case C-247/23 [Deldits], which dealt with the question of what evidence the Hungarian state may require from a trans person to change their gender in the asylum register.
Wolfgang Schmidt from the translation service, where all important documents are translated into the 24 EU languages, then gave a fascinating glimpse into the multilingualism of the Court of Justice. The trip was organized by Prof. Dr. Katharina Dahm and Prof. Dr. Manfred Walser, Professors of Business Law at the School of Business.
And one thing became particularly clear: Europe is everywhere – so this coming Sunday, make sure to go vote!
