On January 17, some 80 representatives from five universities of applied sciences met for the kick-off event of the transfer alliance EMPOWER – Kooperation leben und Innovation gestalten (EMPOWER – Living Cooperation and Shaping Innovation) at Mainz University of Applied Sciences.
The aim of the newly founded transfer alliance of Mainz University of Applied Sciences, Catholic University of Applied Sciences Mainz, Bingen Technical University of Applied Sciences, Worms University of Applied Sciences and Ludwigshafen University of Business and Society is to promote the research-based transfer of ideas, knowledge, and technology with business and with the public in the Rhine-Main-Neckar region, especially in Rheinhessen and the Vorderpfalz region.
Content-wise, EMPOWER focuses on five specific megatrends, each of which is covered by a participating university: Connectivity (Mainz University of Applied Sciences), Health (Catholic University of Applied Sciences Mainz), Sustainability (Bingen Technical University of Applied Sciences), Cybersecurity (Worms University of Applied Sciences) and New Work (Ludwigshafen University of Business and Society). The three structural transfer platforms Innovation Lab, Competence Center, and New Venture serve to address current and future issues in pilot projects with a view to developing real-world solutions. Cross-university events are used to promote the visibility of the transfer alliance, especially in the Rhinehessen/Vorderpfalz region.
EMPOWER is subsidized by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research as part of its Innovative Hochschule initiative.
