The idea
The Federal Ministry of Education launched the Deutschlandstipendium in the winter semester of 2011, laying the foundation for the development of a new, strong scholarship culture. In addition to BAföG, need-oriented educational loans and scholarships from the funding agencies for gifted students, a fourth and strong pillar of student financing was established.
WHEN WILL THE NEXT SCHOLARSHIPS BE AWARDED?
The application phase for the Deutschlandstipendium always takes place in the spring of each year. All relevant information and the exact application date can be found on the application page.
WHO PAYS THE SCHOLARSHIP?
Half of the scholarships are funded by the Federal Government and the other half by private sponsors (companies, foundations, private individuals).
HOW HIGH ARE THE GRANTS?
For the duration of two semesters, scholarship-holders receive 300 euros per month (150 euros each from the government and private sponsors) - the total amount of funding is 3,600 euros per year.
WHO IS SPONSORED?
Funding will be provided for high-performance and goal-oriented students who are socially committed and/or have to overcome particular obstacles in their educational history. Students in bachelor's and master's degree programs can apply for the Deutschlandstipendium from the 1st semester onwards.
WHO SELECTS THE RECIPIENTS?
The selection is made by the selection committee of Mainz University of Applied Sciences, which consists of the following members:
- The President
- and/or the Vice-President
- The deans of the schools
- A student member
- One professor from each of the schools
- The representative for the Deutschlandstipendium
- The equal-opportunity representative
