Mainz - Uninorte project: Partnership for sustainable construction

The project "Mainz-Uninorte: Partnership for Sustainable Construction" strengthens the cooperation between Mainz University of Applied Sciences and the Universidad del Norte in Colombia. Based on an existing partnership, the project aims to promote academic exchange as well as collaborative teaching and research in the field of sustainable construction and international civil engineering practice.

Regular exchange of students and lecturers

A central aspect of the project is the regular, reciprocal exchange of students and lecturers to improve international career opportunities and provide valuable intercultural experience. A particular focus is placed on building with sustainable materials such as bamboo and wood. Additionally, digital teaching and learning formats are being further developed.

Advantages for students

For students from Mainz, the exchange offers valuable insights into sustainable construction methods and their practical application, in addition to the acquisition of general intercultural skills. Similarly, students from Colombia benefit from the practical training and innovative teaching methods in Mainz, which give them a comprehensive insight into European standards and challenges in civil engineering.

Further collaboration development

The project also explores possible collaborative research initiatives in the field of sustainable construction. The international visibility of the civil engineering courses at both universities will be increased through (online) courses and exchange programs.

Funded by the DAAD ISAP program

Funded by the DAAD program 'International Study and Training Partnerships (ISAP)', this cooperation creates academic synergies and develops practical solutions for sustainable construction. Together we promote innovative building practices that make ecological and economic sense.

A step towards a sustainable future

This project is an important step towards a sustainable future and offers students and lecturers at both universities valuable international experience and perspectives.
