Continuing education Geoinformatics (Certificate), studying while working

The university certificate in geoinformatics was designed to enable you to extend your knowledge from your first degree program with methods of geoinformatics in addition to work, even without the part-time master's degree program in geoinformatics.
In this case, required elective modules and module examinations are not required, plus the final thesis takes only six to eight weeks. This enables you to reconcile your professional and family requirements with those of your studies. Important: The certificate provides you with a solid basis of knowledge of geoinformatics. However, this does not give you a university degree. Therefore, we recommend that all those who are able to complete the part-time master's program in Geoinformatics.

Description of degree program

You attend all compulsory courses together with the part-time master's students. The lecture contents and exercises are therefore identical.

In contrast to the master's program, you do not have to complete any additional elective subjects or module examinations at the end of the semester.

At the end of the program, you will write a six to eight-week thesis and take an oral examination instead of the six-month master's thesis. A regular switch to the master's program is not intended.

After successful completion of the further education course you will receive a graded university certificate.
You will have six to eight weeks to complete your thesis while working. During this time you will independently write a project thesis in the field of geoinformation systems with a conceptual or practical focus. This is followed by an oral examination.
The participation fee is currently 613.50 Euros per semester. Value added tax is not charged. Since tuition fees are not applicable, you will not be able to avail yourself of the benefits associated with student status.
Spatial IT processing requires specially trained personnel who are responsible for the design, procurement and operation of these systems.
In your continuing education studies, you should be put in a position to take on these tasks,  whether at your present or a new job, by retraining or by increasing your existing competence.
