Program Structure of Management, on-the-job, M.Sc.
In the module Research Methods for Business Studies you develop an understanding of scientific procedures and acquire knowledge about scientific methods for solving practical management problems and dealing with the formula apparatus of science. This also includes quantitative methods from statistics and econometrics. In this module you will be prepared for scientific work.
The Supply Chain Management module deals with the cross-company management of supply chains as supplier and customer relationships. This includes the goals, problems, basic principles, elements and processes at strategic and operational levels. You will learn to analyze, select and apply them according to the situation.
In International Financial Reporting you will learn the main terms and accounting regulations of IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards). You will also deal with selected issues in the individual and consolidated financial statements and apply various techniques for analyzing IFRS financial statements.
Innovative products are increasingly becoming the basis for successful marketing. The Marketing Management module provides you with the necessary methodological knowledge.
Innovative products are increasingly becoming the basis for successful marketing. In this module you will learn to analyse and present management instruments in an operational context. You understand the necessary data basis and can assess the contribution of an instrument to decision-making. Furthermore, you will test various visualization and presentation techniques.
The Managerial Economics course introduces you to newer economic explanations that you can use for analysis and decision-making in practical management problems. The course focuses on theories relevant to management, marketing, accounting and strategic corporate management in various market structures. In addition, you should become familiar with the difference between the company perspective and the overall social perspective in economic decisions and learn to assess concrete economic policy interventions in market economies.
In the Digital Economy module, you will learn about concepts of the digital economy and IS-based business models. You will develop a basic understanding of IS-based networks and platforms for communication, interaction and transaction in a global context. You will understand the practical implementation and be able to assess the social and cultural consequences of the digital economy.
The focus of the module Human Resources Management and Leadership is the employee life cycle. You will analyze important concepts for guiding human resource management in companies, deal with the elements of leadership competence and practice the application of these competences. In addition to the individual elements of recruiting, hiring and training personnel, personnel development and redundancy, you will also deal with selected aspects of social competence and individual and collective employment law.
You will develop a company project with the goal of working independently on an operational problem. Specialist concepts and instruments for the development of an implementable solution approach are to be applied. You will choose projects from the areas of Marketing Management, Corporate Finance or Human Resources Management.
In the 3rd and 4th semester two electives are taken. You can choose from three major areas of study and four topic-specific electives that best suit your interests. You can choose from the following three focal points:
- Controlling and Finance
- Marketing and Corporate Communications
- Human Resources Management
This semester you will also take two electives.
In the Change Management module you can expand your professional competence to define large-scale change management concepts for change programs and to plan and control their implementation. You will apply change management methods and tools based on practical cases. You will also learn to evaluate scientific studies on the effectiveness of change management.
Within the framework of the Management Simulation Game, you will apply the business management knowledge you have acquired. Entrepreneurial thinking and action within an international framework are made tangible. You work in a team and have to define goals and handle complex decision-making situations.
In the module Scientific Work in Companies, you develop a detailed project plan for the preparation of your master's thesis. In particular, you should explain the research methodological procedure for dealing with the problem. In addition, you perform a critical literature analysis and create a schedule.

The master's thesis deals with a management problem. On the basis of an analysis, you identify alternative courses of action and develop recommendations for decisions. The master's thesis gives you the opportunity to critically reflect and apply the knowledge acquired in your studies.
