Marcelo Castro Aranda

Who are you and in which company do you currently work? In which position are you working?

I´m Marcelo Castro Aranda from Argentina and I´m currently working for DB Schenker AG in Processes & Systems Air Europe, in Data & Analysis as a work student. I have recently been offered a full-time position after finishing my studies.

What did you study in your Bachelor's degree?

I did my Bachelor´s in International Trade.

Why did you choose the Maestría Argentino-Alemana?

The Maestría Argentino-Alemana was a clear choice for me for several reasons. First, my long-term goal was to study abroad, and this program offered the perfect setting. Second, the curriculum's focus on international business, export management, and related fields directly complemented my bachelor's degree. Finally, my professional background in logistics provided me with practical insights that, I believed, were enhanced by the topics covered during the master's program.

What were your expectations of the MAAA? What particularly convinced you to choose this program between the two universities, Mainz University of Applied Sciences and UCES Buenos Aires, and what makes the MAAA unique in your eyes?

My expectations of the MAAA included studying in a multicultural environment and sharing experiences and insights with students from diverse backgrounds. This aspect truly convinced me to choose this program over others. The opportunity to learn from and collaborate with people from different countries and cultures was significant. What makes the MAAA unique, in my eyes, is precisely this international and intercultural focus. It pushed me out of my comfort zone in a positive and challenging way. Having to settle in a foreign country, far from home, was a significant personal growth experience. The program not only met but exceeded my expectations in this regard.

Is there anything in the study program that has remained particularly in your memory?

I particularly remember a class in which we analyzed the economy and history of my home country. Hearing my classmates' and the professor's perspectives was very insightful.

How far did the study of the MAAA and the mandatory internship/applied project help you with your career entry?

The MAAA study and the mandatory internship were both very helpful. The internship, in particular, allowed me to further develop my skills in a German business environment, complementing my existing work experience.

Have you participated in alumni events as a student? How do you like the alumni network of the study program?

Yes, I participated in alumni events as a student, and I strongly encourage current students to do so. They're a fantastic complement to the program and offer valuable opportunities to connect with new people and expand your network.
