The Maestría Argentino-Alemana is one of the few German-Argentinean business administration master’s degree programs with a double degree. You can benefit from our wide range of courses in English and Spanish and the coordinated theoretical, practical and foreign stages, as well as gaining experience abroad by spending 10 months studying in Buenos Aires. In addition to your studies, you will become acquainted with Latin American culture in Argentina and also deepen your Spanish language skills. Selected students will receive financial support of 1,075 Euro from the Deutsch-Argentinisches Hochschulzentrum (DAHZ) (German-Argentinean University Center), for the duration of the 10-month studies in Buenos Aires, as well as a one-time flight subsidy of 1,500 Euro (as of 2022). With the German-Argentinean master’s double degree from Mainz University of Applied Sciences and the Universidad de Ciencias Empresariales y Sociales (UCES) in Buenos Aires, you will be ideally qualified to start your international career.
International know-how combined with a double degree
Interculturalism is considered the key to professional success in the global working world. By learning and working together with your Argentinean, German, and international fellow students, you will already acquire intercultural know-how while studying. You will complete about two-thirds of your studies together with the master’s students of the International Business M.A., who come from all corners of the world. In the remaining third of your classes you will study exclusively with your Latin American fellow students. At the end of your studies, you will obtain a double degree.
The English- and Spanish-language courses at Mainz University of Applied Sciences and UCES in Buenos Aires focus on international business and build on each other. You will benefit from our lecturers’ many years of practical experience abroad and with international companies.
In the master’s degree program Maestría Argentino-Alemana, you will deepen your already existing business knowledge by taking methodological-systematic and application-oriented modules. The majority of the modules are taught in English. The Spanish-language modules prepare you to write your master’s thesis in Spanish at our partner university in Buenos Aires.
Accounting
Planning, management and controlling of all operational processes are of central importance in accounting. In this module, you will learn methods and tools and apply them to specific case studies.
Business Research
You will learn various scientific methods which you will need for the quantitative or qualitative empirical research for your master’s thesis. You will also acquire the skills needed for academic working and writing in the foreign language.
Business Simulation
In this module, you will apply your acquired expertise by working in international project teams to create a business plan for a (fictitious) company, simulate management decisions and develop a marketing concept for a (fictitious) product.
Corporate Finance and Investment & International Corporate Finance
You will gain insight into corporate finance and investment activities and deepen the knowledge you have acquired by completing exercises and case studies using analytical tools. Corporate Finance and Investment prepares you for a more in-depth study of International Corporate Finance by familiarizing you with the basics.
International Business Environment & World Economics: Current Issues
In these modules, you will learn about key theories of international trade, gain insights into legal parameters of the world trading system, and examine the latest developments in the policy landscape of international business.
International Business Law
In the globalized world, the international legal perspective is of great importance in contractual processes in multinational companies and organizations. This module gives you training in international legal issues.
International Marketing
In this module, you will learn about innovative and digital marketing tools, how brands are developed and promoted, and how companies can analyze the behavior of their customers, using international examples and group work.
Leadership and Human Resource Management
In this course, you will learn about the structural organization of a company and the various processes involved in organizational and human resource management. You will gain insight into the functions of human resource management, such as recruiting.
Strategic Management
You will explore the question of how companies can ideally align themselves strategically for generating profits and remaining competitive, and you will learn methods used to develop a company's strategic goals and then implement them operationally.
Export Management
You will learn more about the different areas of a company's foreign trade and examine, for example, export, import and transit transactions and their foreign trade restrictions and customs regulations, as well as the different currency systems.
Quantitative Analytical Methods
You will learn mathematical and statistical methods and tools (such as STATA) for modeling and quantitative measurement, which you will need in preparation for the empirical research you will conduct in your master’s thesis.
Castellano y Cultura Argentina
A perfect command of the Spanish language is the cornerstone of our degree program. Over the course of three semesters, this module will bring you to an excellent level of Spanish (C1), enabling you to write your master’s thesis in Spanish in Buenos Aires.
América Latina: Historia y economía política
This module offers you deep insights into the history of Argentina while simultaneously examining the current political and economic situation of selected Latin American countries.
At our partner university UCES, you will gain an in-depth understanding of topics such as business management and finance. All modules are taught in Spanish.
Alianzas, Fusiones y Adquisiciones
The main objective of this course is to introduce you to the broad spectrum in the field of Mergers & Acquisitions, such as mergers, acquisitions, strategic alliances, asset divestitures, and corporate restructuring.
Economía Internacional Monetaria
You will discuss international economic and finance topics drawing on macroeconomic and financial analysis models to calculate interest rates and exchange rates.
Introducción a la Negociación & Negociación Estratégica
These courses aim to sharpen your business negotiation skills and provide you with methods for successful business negotiations.
Masterarbeit als Abschluss des Studiums
You will write your master’s thesis in your 4th and 5th semesters at UCES in Buenos Aires. The thesis will be written in Spanish. After submitting the thesis, you will defend it in front of a 3-member panel of judges who will determine the final grade.
The degree program begins in the winter semester. You will spend the first three semesters studying at Mainz University of Applied Sciences. The required internship of at least two months, which you complete during the first three semesters at a German or an international company, gives you insights into professional practice and enables you to connect practice and acquired theory with each other. You can complete this internship at companies in Germany or Argentina, or at other international English- and Spanish-speaking companies and organizations. The internship ends with the Applied Project module: for this module you will prepare a report of about 10 to 15 pages, which you will then present in front of a panel consisting of students and lecturers.
We support you in finding an internship and offer you the opportunity to come together with potential employers through practical lectures and our annual Company Fair.

During your studies, you will have the opportunity to live in different countries and cities and familiarize yourself with different cultures and different ways of learning and teaching. Your foreign language talent, the in-depth business knowledge acquired through your studies and the internship of several months will make you an interculturally well-versed Latin American business expert. The master’s degree program not only offers you the unique opportunity of living on two continents and discovering new ways to study and work, it also enables you to make friends with people from different countries around the world.
Approximately 5,700 students are enrolled at Mainz University of Applied Sciences. The School of Business currently has around 3,100 students. Our modern campus, within walking distance of the stadium of the Bundesliga soccer club Mainz 05, is ideally situated for public transportation by bus and train to the student dormitories and downtown Mainz. The student group of the German-Argentinean master's program is a very familiar one, with a maximum of 15 students. This means that we know our students personally and offer them the perfect environment to study in small international teams for learning, teaching, and projects.
Mainz, the city of Gutenberg, has a lot to offer with its historic old town, its beautiful location on the Rhine, and the Mainz 05 soccer club. Mainz is a typical student city in the heart of the Rhine-Main region and is considered one of the most important university locations in Germany. Statistically, every fifth person in Mainz is a student. The distances here are short, whether it's to Wiesbaden, downtown Frankfurt or the airport. Mainz is also well-known as an interesting media location; ZDF, SWR and the Rhein-Main publishing group have their headquarters here.
The old town has its own flair with its narrow alleyways and stores. The downtown district also invites visitors to sit and relax in its charming squares. Breakfast at the market, Marktfrühstück, is a must for everyone who lives in Mainz; people meet for Weck, Worscht, Woi, which translates to a roll with sausage and some wine. One of the most beautiful places in Mainz is the banks of the Rhine, where many students spend their free time, esepcially when the sun is shining. The Mainzer Fastnacht (carnival) and especially the Rosenmontagumzug (Rose Monday parade) offer a special experience that every new resident of Mainz simply should not miss.

In the 4th and 5th semesters you will continue your studies in Argentina at the Universidad de Ciencias Empresariales y Sociales in Buenos Aires. Established in 1991, it offers more than 100 master’s degree programs and nearly 30 undergraduate degree programs. During your 10 months of study in Argentina, you will write your master’s thesis, which you will write in Spanish and defend with the final defensa. The courses in small student groups take place in the evening hours, since Argentinean students work during the day. The wide range of academic courses enables hands-on preparation for your future professional career with an international company.
Buenos Aires or CABA (Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires), as the Argentines commonly call it, is the capital and largest city of Argentina, with a population of more than three million. Numerous details and distinctive features characterize Buenos Aires as a city rich in interesting sights. For soccer lovers, it is the city with the largest number of soccer stadiums in the world. Lovers of the theater will enjoy Avenida Corrientes, which is also called the Broadway of Buenos Aires, because of its large number of theater venues. And food lovers can enjoy unique culinary experiences in the numerous cafes and restaurants, with dishes from all over the world and Argentine wines. In addition, Buenos Aires is home to the most important cemetery in Latin America, La Recoleta, where Eva Perón is buried. If you are an applicant with a German university degree, please submit your application using the application portal of Mainz University of Applied Sciences. If you have obtained your university degree abroad, please apply through uni-assist. You can find the application deadline in the information box for the application period.
The double degree program always begins in the winter semester. Classes usually start in late September or early October. The given periods may shift slightly. At the start of the program, there is an orientation or introductory week which all students take part in. In the 4th semester, you will transfer to our partner university UCES in Buenos Aires. There you will study for two semesters and write your master’s thesis in Spanish.
During the course of your studies, you will complete a mandatory internship of at least 280 hours integrated in your studies. The internship can also take the form of a student work placement, and can take place in Germany or Argentina.
In the Applied Project module, you will write an approx. 15-page report on your internship activities and deliver this report in the form of a presentation.
You will write your master’s thesis in the 4th and 5th semesters in Spanish at our partner university UCES in Buenos Aires.
For your 10-month period of studies in Argentina, you can receive a scholarship of 1,075 Euro per month, as well as a one-time flight subsidy of 1,500 Euro (as of 2022) from the Deutsch-Argentinisches Hochschulzentrum (German-Argentinean Center for Higher Education). You must apply for the scholarship separately. You will be informed about the application regulations by the management of the study program in due time.
The exam period always takes place in the last two weeks of the lecture period. In the winter semester, these are the last two weeks of January, in the summer semester the exams are usually held in the last week of June and the first week of July.
If you fail an exam, you will be automatically registered for that exam in the following semester. The exam will then be retaken during the exam period of the following semester. In such a case, you will not be required to attend the corresponding lecture in that semester.
If you are not in the area served by the semester ticket (Rhine-Main area) in your 4th semester, you will have to pay the full semester fee at Mainz University of Applied Sciences, but you can apply for a refund of the semester ticket.
The general university athletics (AHS) for our students are organized by JGU Mainz. The range of activities is varied – from A for aerobics or American football to archery, capoeira, jiu-jitsu, sailing, underwater rugby and Y for yoga. The athletic program includes health and general sports activities along with competitive sports. All you need to participate is your student ID.
