Foreign higher education entrance qualification
Application via uni-assist
If your foreign higher education entrance qualification is recognized as equivalent to the German one and sufficient German language skills are proven, you will be admitted to the study place allocation procedure. German citizens with a foreign university degree do not have to provide proof of German language proficiency.
If you have not obtained your university degree in Germany, please send your application to uni-assist (address on the right).
The nationality of the applicants is irrelevant.
- You have already obtained recognition of your foreign university degree in Germany with a stated grade point average.
- You would like to apply to the consecutive master's degree program International Business (M.A. IB full-time) and have obtained your first university degree qualifying for a profession in a country belonging to the EU.
- You would like to apply to the continuing education master's degree programs International Business (M.Sc. IB) and/or Taxation.
Documents to be submitted
- Chronological, signed curriculum vitae with no missing periods of time
- Copy of identity card
- Explanation of previous study periods at home and abroad
- Proof of German language skills
- Certificate of exmatriculation for all degree programs in which you were previously enrolled. If you are still enrolled by the closing date for applications, you can submit them upon enrollment, but no later than October 15 for the winter semester and March 30 for the winter semester.
If you have already been or are currently enrolled in a master's degree program, you must submit the following documents in addition to the required documents by the deadline when applying to our university. This applies to all previous degree programs in which you were or are enrolled after completing your first undergraduate degree.
- Clearance certificate (in German)
- Clearance certificate for all studies at foreign universities after completing your first undergraduate degree (in English or German)
- If the outgoing university does not issue a clearance certificate, please submit a transcript of records/grade transcript stating the ECTS credits, grade, number of attempts, including any failed examinations, stating whether you are still entitled to take examinations for this degree program
- If you have received a “final failure” (Endgültig Nichtbestehen) during your previous studies, you are required to name the module and submit the specific module description
The clearance certificates/proof of academic achievements or transcript of records
- must have been issued after exmatriculation for degree programs from which you have already been de-registered. The certificate of exmatriculation must also be submitted.
- must not be issued before May 15 for the winter semester or November 15 for the summer semester for degree programs in which you are still enrolled, depending on the semester to which you are applying.

The documents that must be sent to uni-assist by 15 July must be officially certified.
- Essay composition (aptitude test)
- Document your educational path from secondary school diploma to your current level of education. Submit all certificates completely – the degree and the corresponding overview of subjects and transcript of grades must always be submitted in full. Neither whole certificate parts (for example a diploma appendix) nor individual pages may be missing. If the grade system used is not listed on the subject overview and transcript of grades, please also submit the information on the grading system of your school or university.
- You are required to submit all certificates in full in the original language in an officially certified copy and additionally in a sworn translation.
- No more than one third of the ECTS credits in the degree you have completed may be from economics classes. The degree must be worth at least 180 ECTS credits and have at least ETCS Grade C. If no ECTS grade is shown, your grade average must not be lower than 2.5 (German grading system).
- Certificate from the preparatory course if you have attended a preparatory course (officially certified copy)
You need to submit proof of good language skills, certifying that you are able to study in German, French, and English. You must proivde proof of your language skills by a standardized, internationally recognized language test:
- English
Language certificates (TOEFL iBT, TOEIC) demonstrating level B2 according to the European Framework of Reference for Languages, or proof that you earned at least 30 ECTS credits in classes taught and tested in English during your bachelor's degree program. - French
Language certificates (including TFI) demonstrating level B2 according to the European Framework of Reference for Languages, or proof that you earned at least 30 ECTS credits in classes taught and tested in French during your bachelor's degree program. - German
Language certificates (including DaF) demonstrating level B2 according to the European Framework of Reference for Languages, or proof that you earned at least 30 ECTS credits in classes taught and tested in German during your bachelor's degree program.
It is possible to replace language tests with suitable periods abroad. The equivalence shall be decided on a case-by-case basis.

- Diploma and diploma certificate or master's certificate and master's degree with grade point average (decimal point)
If the documents are not yet available and the grade of the final examination of the first degree program has not been verified, the result of the final examination is evaluated with "1 point" when determining the measurement number for the selection for a second degree program. - Reasons for enrolling in a second degree program
