Applicants with previous periods of study in Germany or abroad must submit the following documents in addition to the required documents in due time when applying to our university. This applies to all previous master's degree programs in which you were or are enrolled after completing your first undergraduate degree.

• Clearance certificate (in German)
• Clearance certificate for all studies at foreign universities after completing your first undergraduate degree (in English)
• Proof of achievement / grade point average with indication of the ECTS credits, grade, number of attempts including the failed achievements with indication of the provisional grade point average of your achievements to date.
• Summary of the contents of the individual modules including the ECTS credits (in German)
• Curriculum plan (in German)

If you are still enrolled at another university at the time of application and are able to complete achievements there, you must provide a current clearance certificate and current proof of achievements / grade point average including the failed achievements after the grading of the last examination achievement by the previous university again without being asked. This must be done by October 15 for the winter semester and by the end of the first week of April for the summer semester at the Office of Student Affairs of Mainz University of Applied Sciences.  

Level C1 is required for the applicatioin and verified by

• German language examination for university entrance at least level 2 (DSH-2)
• Goethe certificate at least C1
• Test German as a foreign language (TestDaF)-TDN 4 in all parts of the examination
•  alternatively: Business German, telc Deutsch C1

The proof of German language skills must be presented in an officially certified form.

• Document your educational path from secondary school diploma to your current level of education. Submit all certificates completely - the degree and the corresponding overview of subjects and grades must always be submitted in full. Neither whole certificate parts (for example a diploma appendix) nor individual pages may be missing. If the grade system used is not listed on the subject and grade overview, please also submit the information on the grade system of your school or university.

• It is necessary that you submit all certificates completely in the original language in an officially certified copy and additionally in a sworn translation. Submission is only possible in paper form. Copies of certified documents - whether they are in electronic or paper form - are only simple copies and are not themselves certified. A copy shall be deemed to be authenticated only if it bears the original authentication stamp.

• You must have completed a qualified bachelor's degree program, Engineering Diploma (FH) or Engineering Diploma in civil engineering or a comparable degree program at a national or international university or university of applied sciences.
  The degree must have been earned with at least ECTS grade C. If no ECTS grade is shown, the grade point average must not be less than 2.7 (German grading system).

If you have a qualified bachelor's degree in civil engineering with at least 180 ECTS credits, you can acquire further ECTS credits required for the professional qualification of the consecutive master's degree (bridge modules).
 

If you are applying to the master's degree program in civil engineering as an on-the-job part-time program, it is mandatory that you submit a cooperation agreement with your application documents.

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited bachelor's degree program in architecture with at least 240 ECTS credits or from a comparable diploma program in architecture at a national or international university or university of applied sciences with an above-average grade point average (an above-average overall grade of 1.0 up to and including 2.5 or a grade A-B in undergraduate studies is considered to be an above-average overall grade).

Please note: advanced, transition or bridge modules to compensate for missing ECTS credits from a previous degree with less than 240 ECTS credits will not be offered.

• IYou must submit all certificates in full in the original language in an officially certified copy and additionally in a sworn translation. Submission is only possible in paper form. Copies of certified documents - whether they are in electronic or paper form - are only simple copies and are not certified themselves. A copy shall be deemed to be authenticated only if it bears the original authentication stamp.
• A bachelor's degree in Building and Property Management, Facility Management or Technical Property Management or a bachelor's degree, an Engineering Diploma from a university of applied sciences or an Engineering Diploma from related fields. Your grade point average must not be less than 2.7 (German grading system). The degree program director decides on the admission of students with a degree from related degree programs. 
• Interior architecture graduates (Bachelor's degree, Engineering Diploma from a university of applied sciences or Engineering Diploma) must provide proof of at least three years of construction site-related or practical activities related to construction and property management, facility management or technical facility management.
• In addition to a degree in engineering, you must also prove your knowledge of mathematics. You may have acquired this knowledge during your previous studies or as part of a separate certificate of achievement. The proof must be submitted by the end of the first master's semester. A mathematics bridge course will be offered.

Certificate of a qualified degree:

• Bachelor's degree in the degree program Geoinformatics and Surveying with at least 180 ECTS credits (grade A-c) or
• Engineering Diploma (FH) or Engineering Diploma in a Geoinformatics and Surveying degree program or
• in a comparable degree program at a national or international university or university of applied sciences.

If, for legal or other reasons, it is not possible to classify the degree in grades, the examination board will make a decision on admission on a case-by-case basis.

• For applicants who have already completed their studies, the Diploma Supplement and certificate must also be enclosed.
• As part of the assessment test for admission to the consecutive master's degree program, you are required to state your specific reasons for your choice of degree program and university location in writing (letter of motivation).

• Certificate of a qualified bachelor's degree or a diploma from a university or university of applied sciences, or a degree recognized as equivalent by the examination board in a degree program which, according to the examination board, provides evidence of a sufficient basis for the master's program.

• In principle, the following university degrees are recognized, as far as IT-technical knowledge is proven:
  civil engineering, architecture, information technology, geography, geology, regional planning, agriculture, forestry, environmental protection and mathematics

•  In the absence of evidence of IT knowledge and in the case of graduates of other degree programs, the examination board examines the basis, in particular the presence of IT knowledge, on a case-by-case basis.

• Proof of work experience by means of a letter of reference (submission of the employment contract is not sufficient) of at least one year's duration after the first degree.

• Proof of at least four years of work experience, which shows sufficient content-related connections with the selected degree program. Proof should be provided in the form of a letter of reference (presentation of the employment contract is not sufficient).

• A letter of motivation stating the reasons for your wish to study, with a maximum of 3,000 characters, detailing your previous skill development and evidenced by the following qualified documents:
  
  •  Projects and areas of responsibility
  • Proof of examination results achieved within the framework of further training measures
  • Letters of reference or proof of all relevant practical activities. The certificates, attestations and other supporting documents must be submitted in the form of officially certified copies.

 

Proof of higher education entrance qualification acquired with vocational qualification abroad as follows:

• Certificate of recognition of the foreign vocational qualification from the Karlsruhe Chamber of Skilled Crafts (www.hwk-karlsruhe.de) or the IHK FOSA (www.ihk-fosa.de) (vocational qualification: qualified result of at least 2.5 or better)
• Proof of at least two years' work experience or a comparable activity, following the successful completion of vocational training with a qualified result to acquire higher education entrance qualification

Plus proof of at least four years of work experience, which shows sufficient content-related connections with the selected degree program. Proof should be provided in the form of a letter of reference (presentation of the employment contract is not sufficient). A letter of motivation stating the reasons for your wish to study, with a maximum of 3,000 characters, detailing your previous skill development and evidenced by the following qualified documents:

• A certificate of a university degree or equivalent after successfully completing studies in the fields of building and property management, facility management, industrial engineering (construction), civil engineering or architecture or a degree recognized as equivalent from a foreign university with at least 210 ECTS credits.

• Graduates of degree programs with less than 210 ECTS credits but at least 180 ECTS credits can also apply. The proof of all missing ECTS credits must be provided by the end of the third semester. Here we recommend contacting the student advisory service.

• Interior architecture (Bachelor,  Engineering Diploma (university of applied sciences) or  Engineering Diploma): proof of at least one year of practical work on a construction site or related to building and property management and facility management.

•  Proof of at least one year of practical work experience in the profession after completion of the previous degree program.

• In addition to a degree in engineering, knowledge of mathematics must be proven. This knowledge may have been acquired during previous studies or as part of a separate qualification. The proof must be submitted by the end of the first master's semester. A mathematics bridge course will be offered.

 

In addition, you must submit the following documents in accordance with Section 35 (1) of the Rhineland-Palatinate Higher Education Act:

• Proof of higher education entrance qualification
• Proof of work experience that is sufficiently related to the content of the selected degree program
• Proof that you have performed this on-the-job activity for at least three years after obtaining your higher education entrance qualification.
• A letter of motivation stating the reasons for your wish to study, with a maximum of 3,000 characters, detailing your previous skill development and evidenced by the following qualified documents:
  • Projects and areas of responsibility
  • Proof of examination results achieved within the framework of further training measures
  • Letters of reference or proof of all relevant practical activities. The certificates, attestations and other supporting documents must be submitted in the form of officially certified copies
