University development plan

Strategic development of Mainz University of Applied Sciences

Every five years, the Senate and the University Council of Mainz University of Applied Sciences pass the university development plan, which defines the university's strategic goals.

The current plan was finalized on July 31, 2018 and focuses in particular on the topics of “digitalization” and “academic continuing education studies”. The strategic goals of the previous university development plan, entitled “The Future Development of Mainz University” will be continued where they have not yet been achieved (see right column).

In addition to the topics of digitalization and academic continuing education studies, Mainz University of Applied Sciences remains committed to improving the quality of studies and teaching, research and consulting, maintaining a good working atmosphere and a family-friendly corporate structure, working towards equality between men and women, promoting and appreciating diversity, and continuing to pursue the transfer to business, science, culture, and society.

The University Development Plan for the years 2024 to 2028 defines the profile of Mainz University of Applied Sciences as an academic institution and stakeholder in society, along with key fields of activity and objectives for the university’s continued development.

The fields of activity reflect the university’s primary responsibilities in teaching, research, and transfer, and take into account the overarching topics of sustainability, internationalization, digitalization, equality, and the efficiency and effectiveness of the resources used. The university’s development goals for the period up to 2028 are expressed in the fields of activity and actions that go beyond the university itself are derived from these goals. The current plan was officially adopted on December 14, 2023.
